Abstract

Latar Belakang: Malaria masih menjadi tantangan kesehatan masyarakat yang persisten di wilayah endemis, termasuk Desa Nenassiam, yang dipicu oleh rendahnya kesadaran terhadap pencegahan malaria dan terbatasnya upaya pengendalian vektor. Tujuan: Meningkatkan pengetahuan dan praktik masyarakat dalam pencegahan malaria melalui edukasi kesehatan dan Indoor Residual Spraying (IRS). Intervensi ini dilaksanakan oleh Tim Program Penguatan Kapasitas Organisasi Kemahasiswaan (PPK Ormawa) 2025 Fakultas Kedokteran Universitas Muhammadiyah Sumatera Utara, bekerja sama dengan Dinas Kesehatan Kabupaten Batu Bara. Metode: Kegiatan meliputi edukasi malaria, pelatihan IRS, dan pelaksanaan IRS pada rumah tangga berisiko tinggi di 10 dusun. Hasil: Evaluasi pasca intervensi menunjukkan peningkatan skor pengetahuan sebesar 85%, cakupan IRS mencapai 90% rumah sasaran, serta terjadi penurunan signifikan kepadatan nyamuk Anopheles di dalam rumah. Kesimpulan: Integrasi edukasi kesehatan dengan IRS merupakan strategi efektif dalam pengendalian malaria di komunitas endemis, mendukung pengendalian vektor berkelanjutan, dan sejalan dengan tujuan eliminasi malaria nasional.
