ABSTRACT: Intersections equipped with traffic lights are a crucial element in the road network system, because they play a major role in determining the level of efficiency of traffic flow capacity. Various aspects of transportation performance, such as vehicle speed, operational costs, travel time, level of safety, and comfort of road users, are greatly influenced by the planning and design of the intersection. Petrokimia Intersection, located in Gresik city. Is a five-way junction where five roads converge, highway Jendral A.Yani, highway Samanhudi, Highway Highway jaksa Agung Suprapto, highway proklamasi, and highway Dr. Wahidin Sudirohusodo. This study aims to evaluate the current level of service provided by the Petrokimia Gresik signalized intersection in handling traffic flow. Indonesian Road Capacity Guidelines 2023 (PKJI 2023), an updated version of the outdated MKJI 1997, is used to assess the performance of signalized intersections. This study is focused on comparing the results of performance evaluations at signalized intersections. Field data was acquired during two different time frames: morning peak hours from 6:00 AM to 8:00 AM and afternoon peak hours from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM. At this stage, the researcher gathered data through field surveys, encompassing primary data, road geometry data, traffic pattern data, vehicle speed data, side friction data, secondary data, and population data. The data obtained was subsequently processed and analyzed, broadly divided into two main parts, specifically the processing of data related to vehicle travel time. Following the completion of data processing and analysis, the subsequent stage involves discussing the analysis results. Discussions were conducted using a comparative method to compare traffic conditions on weekdays, half-workdays, and work holidays. Furthermore, an investigation into the causes of traffic congestion was performed to assess the elements that trigger traffic jams on that road segment, as well as formulate alternative solutions as an effort to handle the traffic problems that occur.
