Abstract

Creativity is one of the important developmental aspects that needs to be stimulated from an early age. As the digital era evolves, coding education (computer programming) for early childhood has received increasing attention as an approach with strong potential to stimulate children’s creativity. This literature review aims to analyze the relationship between coding education and the development of creativity in early childhood. The method used is a systematic literature review, tracing scientific articles from various databases such as Springer, ScienceDirect, Frontiers, ERIC, and PubMed Central. The results of the review show that coding learning through various media both screen-based (such as ScratchJr) and physical-based (such as Educational Robotics) has been shown to significantly improve creativity, computational thinking, problem-solving, and 21st-century skills in early childhood. In addition, project-based and play-based pedagogical approaches are more effective in fostering creativity than highly structured approaches. The implications of this study emphasize the need to integrate coding learning comprehensively into the early childhood curriculum, accompanied by adequate teacher training.
