The Use of Animation Film Media About the Story of Prophet Job in Improving Listening Skills of 5-6-Year-Old Children

Abstract

This study aims to improve the listening skills of children aged 5–6 years through the use of the animated film media The Story of Prophet Ayyub at Haholongan Kindergarten, Siundol Julu Village, Sosopan District. The study employed the Classroom Action Research (CAR) method based on the Kemmis and McTaggart model, which was conducted in two cycles consisting of the stages of planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. The research subjects were nine children from Group A. Data were collected through observation and documentation techniques. The indicators of listening skills observed included attention, comprehension, memory, interpretation, and responses to the story content. The findings revealed a continuous improvement in children's listening skills across each cycle. In the pre-cycle stage, the percentage score was 36.11%, categorized as Beginning to Develop. This increased to 67.22% in Cycle I, categorized as Developing as Expected, and further improved to 88.33% in Cycle II, categorized as Very Well Developed. The results indicate that the use of the animated film The Story of Prophet Ayyub was effective in enhancing the listening skills of children aged 5–6 years. The media successfully attracted children's attention, increased their focus, improved their understanding of the story, and helped them remember the characters, events, and moral values conveyed in the narrative.
