Abstract

This study aims to analyze the process of internalizing Islamic spiritual values in early childhood through the practice of Sholawat Wahidiyah, as well as to identify the internalized values along with their supporting and inhibiting factors. This study employs a qualitative method, specifically a field study (field study). Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation, then analyzed using Robert K. Yin’s model. The results indicate that the internalization of values occurs through three interconnected stages: sensory adaptation (listening), behavioral participation (imitating movements), and interpretation through the principle of Lillah-Billah, which can be understood as a form of spiritual scaffolding consistent with Bandura’s social learning theory and Piaget’s theory of moral development. The spiritual values successfully internalized include awareness of God (tauhid), honesty (shiddiq), responsibility (amanah), inner peace, emotional regulation, discipline, gratitude, as well as empathy and social concern. The main supporting factors are the consistency of daily practice, teacher role modeling, and school-family synergy, while inhibiting factors include children’s limited attention spans, differences in family backgrounds, and parents’ lack of understanding regarding the values in the Sholawat Wahidiyah. This study offers a novel contribution as the first empirical study to link the practice of Sholawat Wahidiyah with the internalization of spiritual values at the early childhood education level, and proposes a holistic character education model grounded in the traditional wisdom of Nusantara Islam that aligns with the elements of Religious Values and Moral Character in the Merdeka Curriculum.
