Pemahaman Konsep Operasi Hitung Penjumlahan dan Pengurangan Bilangan Cacah Siswa Kelas III Sekolah Dasar

This study aims to describe the level of conceptual understanding of addition and subtraction operations involving whole numbers among elementary school students. The research employed a descriptive method, involving a sample of 19 third-grade students from an elementary school. Data were obtained through a multiple-choice test consisting of 10 items that met the quality standards, with a validity coefficient of 0.63, a reliability coefficient of 0.84, and a discrimination index of 0.53, all of which indicate that the test items were of good quality. The research was conducted at SDN 1 Rahayu, Mangkubumi District, Tasikmalaya City. Data analysis was carried out using a descriptive statistical approach. The findings revealed that the students’ average score was 40.53, which falls into the low category. Several difficulties were identified, including misapplication of place value, challenges in comprehending the questions, and the inability to determine the correct result of addition or subtraction operations. These findings serve as a valuable reference for teachers in reflecting upon and evaluating their instructional practices to enhance future learning outcomes.
