Background – Employee performance is an essential factor in determining organizational success. Several factors that may influence employee performance include job satisfaction, work motivation, and the physical work environment. However, previous studies have reported inconsistent findings regarding the effects of these variables, making further investigation necessary at PT. XYZ.
Objective – This study aims to analyze the effects of job satisfaction, work motivation, and the physical work environment on employee performance at PT. XYZ.
Design / Methodology / Approach – This research employed a quantitative approach. The research population consists of 36 employees, while the sample comprises 32 employees selected using purposive sampling. Primary data were obtained through the distribution of questionnaires utilizing a likert scale. Data analysis was conduted using SPSS Version 31, involving validity test, reliability test, classical assumption test, multiple linear regression analysis, coefficient of determination test (R2), and hypothesis test (t-test).
Findings – The results indicate that job satisfaction has a positive and significant effect on employee performance, work motivation has a negative and significant effect on employee performance, while the physical work environment has a negative and insignificant effect on employee performance. The three independent variables explain 35,3% of the variation in employee performance, while the remaining 64,7% is influenced by other factors outside the scope of this study.
Research Implication – The research findings indicate that the company needs to enhance job satisfaction by providing rewards, fostering good communication, and evaluating motivational policies to better align them with employee needs. Additionally, improvements to the physical work environment remain necessary to maintain workplace comfort, even though they have not been proven to have a significant impact on employee performance.
Limitations – This study was conducted in a single company with a relatively small sample size, limiting the generalizability of the findings. Futhermore, only three independent variables were examined, whereas other factors may also influence employee performance. Future research is advised to incorporate additional variables affecting employee performance that were not examined in this study.
