Abstract

Abstract

Background – PT. XYZ, as an official distributor, is caught in an operational efficiency dilemma. On the one hand, the company has experienced financial losses due to lost inventory in the warehouse due to weak internal controls and inaccurate record keeping. On the other hand, the "no stock" policy (ordering only on demand) adopted to avoid such losses has actually caused delivery delays of up to one week.

Objective – Evaluate the current inventory management system at PT. XYZ, identify the root causes of declining sales and lost goods problems in the warehouse, and formulate strategies for improving warehouse management and internal controls to balance stock security with distribution speed.

Design / Methodology / Approach – This study used a quantitative descriptive-explanatory approach, with data collection techniques including questionnaires, interviews, and direct observation. Data were analyzed using validity and reliability tests, as well as linear regression to measure the effect of inventory management on sales volume.

Findings – The study found that the lack of an inventory system in 2023–2024 led to a drastic decline in sales due to shipping delays. The company also found that its primary weakness lay in internal warehouse controls, which increased the risk of lost goods, necessitating 11 steps to improve the physical and administrative management systems.

Research Implication – Companies must immediately implement information technology-based inventory management and strengthen warehouse standard operating procedures (SOPs) to balance efficiency with slot777 stock security. With a strict control system, PT. XYZ can improve customer satisfaction through product availability without risking financial losses due to lost goods.

Limitations – This study focuses solely on an internal evaluation of inventory management and its relationship to sales over the past five years at PT. XYZ. The analysis does not encompass extensive external factors, such as market price fluctuations or the influence of competitors' marketing strategies on customer purchasing interest.
