Abstract

Strengthening entrepreneurial literacy is essential for vocational students to compete in the digital-era business environment. Students of SMK Muhammadiyah 5 Panceng, as the community service partner, still face limitations in understanding how to develop a structured business model. This community service program aims to enhance students’ competencies in business planning using the Business Model Canvas (BMC) approach. The implementation methods included needs assessment, delivery of basic entrepreneurship materials, step-by-step BMC workshops, intensive mentoring, and field validation to examine the feasibility of students’ business ideas. The results indicate a significant improvement in students’ ability to comprehend the nine elements of the BMC, identify business opportunities based on local potential, and formulate clearer value propositions, customer segments, and cost structures. Furthermore, pitching activities strengthened students’ business communication skills. Overall, this program demonstrates that BMC is an effective, practical, and applicable learning tool within vocational education settings. The outcomes of this program contribute to developing entrepreneurial skills that prepare students for entering the workforce or creating new business opportunities.
