Abstract

Currently, there is a lot of advanced technology and equipment in use, but it will
not be able to support the company in achieving its goals without support from
employees. PT.X is a company that is developing and is not free from various
problems. This study aims to determine the effect of the need for appreciation
and group cohesiveness on the work motivation of PT.X employees in Gresik.
This research is a type of correlational research with a quantitative approach.
The sampling technique used was the saturated sampling technique, with a total
of 47 employees. The scale used for this study is a Likert scale with 5 answer
choices. The validity test used is content validity and for the reliability test using
Cornbach's alpha analysis. The data analysis technique used is multiple linear
regression test. The results of this study indicate that the significance value of
the appreciation need variable is 0.008 > 0.05, then Ha is rejected and Ho is
accepted, which means that there is no influence of the need for appreciation on
employee work motivation. The group cohesiveness variable obtained a
significance value of 0.000 <0.05, so it can be concluded that Ha is accepted
and Ho is rejected, which means that there is an effect of group cohesiveness on
employee work motivation. The contribution of the variable to the esteem needs
variable is 8%, while the group cohesiveness variable is 80%.
