Pelatihan Dasar Kepemimpinan bagi Organisasi Siswa Intra Sekolah di SMK Manbaul Ulum Kebomas Gresik

Abstract

Purpose – This community service program aimed to strengthen the leadership competencies of the Student Council (OSIS) members at SMK Manbaul Ulum Kebomas Gresik through a Basic Leadership Training program. Specifically, the program sought to enhance participants' leadership skills, communication and teamwork abilities, leadership character, organizational management knowledge, and motivation to pursue further education as future leaders.

Design/methodology/approach – The program adopted a participatory approach implemented through four sequential stages: preparation and coordination, identification of participants' leadership potential, leadership training and workshops, and monitoring and evaluation. The training employed lectures, group discussions, experiential learning through leadership games, and motivational sessions. Program effectiveness was assessed using pre-test and post-test evaluations, complemented by direct observation of participants' engagement and behavioral development throughout the activities.

Findings – The training program demonstrated positive outcomes in enhancing participants' leadership competencies. The pre-test and post-test results indicated a significant improvement in participants' understanding of leadership management concepts and essential leadership characteristics. Furthermore, the program successfully fostered leadership attitudes, improved teamwork and communication skills, encouraged creativity and problem-solving abilities, and promoted critical thinking. The motivational sessions also strengthened participants' self-confidence and inspired them to develop into responsible, disciplined, and future-oriented leaders.

Originality/value – This program presents an experiential leadership development model that integrates leadership simulations, collaborative learning, reflective discussions, and educational motivation within student organization training. Unlike conventional leadership training that primarily emphasizes theoretical knowledge, this approach simultaneously develops leadership knowledge, soft skills, and character formation, providing a practical framework for cultivating student leadership in vocational secondary schools.
