Ethno-STEM, Kit Media, Force and EnergyAbstract
This study aims to analyze the need for developing ethno-STEM-based educational tools through a slingshot game in teaching force and energy in elementary schools. This study employed a descriptive qualitative approach involving one teacher and three fourth-grade students at SDN Hegarsari, Tasikmalaya City. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation, then analyzed using an interactive analysis model with triangulation techniques. The results indicate that science instruction remains dominated by lecture-based methods with low student engagement. The teacher faced difficulties explaining abstract concepts related to force and energy, while students preferred learning through hands-on activities. Furthermore, the learning media and teaching aids used have not optimally integrated the STEM approach with local cultural contexts. Therefore, it is necessary to develop an ethno-STEM-based media kit using a slingshot game to provide a more concrete, contextual, and interactive learning experience, thereby enhancing students’ understanding.
