PENGARUH UKURAN MATA PANCING TAJUR TERHADAP HASIL TANGKAPAN IKAN DI SUNGAI MUSI DESA RANTAU PANJANG, MUSI BANYUASIN

Abstract

This study aimed to analyze the effect of hook size on fish catches using tajur fishing gear in the Musi River, Rantau Panjang Village, Lawang Wetan District, Musi Banyuasin Regency. The study was conducted in July 2025 using the experimental fishing method with four hook sizes (No. 3, 5, 7, and 9). The experiment was arranged in a Randomized Complete Block Design (RCBD), with fishing days serving as blocks over a 15-day observation period. The observed parameters included catch number, catch weight, and fish length. Data were analyzed using analysis of variance (ANOVA), followed by Duncan's Multiple Range Test at a 95% confidence level. The results showed that hook size significantly affected the number and weight of fish catches (P<0.05), but had no significant effect on fish length (P>0.05). Hook size No. 3 produced the highest average number of catches, while hook size No. 9 produced the highest average catch weight. These findings indicate that hook size influences the effectiveness and selectivity of tajur fishing gear in the Musi River.
